The Great Desertion
I often think of my desk
amongst the other desks,
scattered post it notes
archaic to-do lists,
stacked coffee cups
filled with chewed pens,
the potted cactus
and little hula girl
swaying side to side
In the light of the window,
sky greying towards autumn,
and the occasional passing
pigeon wondering
where we all are.
