I could not listen to them

pay attention where needed

but watched in fascination for sound

for that loud tie

that leather cuff

facial ticks

blackboard tricks

all done under scratched deplored hair.

Then     doors set me free

to live my own life with the frightful

scamperings of the herd

unfathomed uncaring

a primal scream

an urban dream.
