Wrong Turns

While reflecting on the route I have rambled.

As I bumbled,  and scrambled.

My way through life.

I realize that the turns I have taken.

And the choices I was makin`.

Let us not be mistaken.

Was like sliding along the edge of a razor sharp knife.

Because every day,  I let my addictions have there way.

And about this,  I had little to say.

This was my continuous agony,  and strife.

Sobriety I did reject,  and the ones trying to protect.

Reason,  into me,  they tried to inject.

To their advice,  I never did listen.

While drunk,  and high,  logic was often missin`

I was more pre-occupied with getting lovin` and kissin`.

Consequently,  losing many friendships,  and all of the others respect.

To this lifestyle I now object.

A new image I wish to project.

So,  a new route I will ramble.

And maybe be an example.

That the old ways,  you can correct.

And onto others,  now have a more positive effect.

And for me,  a little self respect.

This poem is almost a confession of a cathartic nature. A rummaging of the soul with revelations dawning. I value such poetry as it is an honest reflection of a tragic aspect of today's world. The writer has overcome this and all credit is due to him.

Thank you for this

Keith
