Letting Go

Joshua

became as a lamb,

sacrificed in sorrow,

showering freedom

across the lands.

When faced with fear

walk into it with courage--

eyes observing,

voice steady,

heart opening.

Life arrives,

life passes,

death is but a door to life.

The lamb cries with heartbreaking release,

the lion roars with ferocious freedom--

letting go of survival,

life is born anew.

I changed "grateful release" to "heartbreaking release." Maybe one step towards transcendence of suffering is to just let our hearts break. Sigh.

Me neither, Hélène.
Yes, let's try to transcend suffering, but I doubt if that lamb is grateful for its "release".💗

Hi everyone. I am not real comfortable with the "sacrificial lamb" imagery in this poem, and I can't remember what inspired this poem (I wrote it about a week ago). I think I might have been thinking about suffering and the desire to transcend it. Anyways, upon re-read, I thought I would go ahead and post it, notwithstanding the sad lamb thing.
