Prince of Darkness, Dreamer True

A Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne

He walked where angels fear to tread,
With eyes alight and painted dread.
A crown of chaos on his brow,
He ruled the stage — he rules it now.

With Sabbath’s chords he shook the sky,
The riffs would scream, the doves would cry.
Through “Paranoid” and “War Pigs” loud,
He gave his soul to please the crowd.

He bit the night and drank the flame,
Unchained and wild, yet not to blame.
A bat, a dove — his myths took flight,
A jester dancing in the night.

“I am a dreamer,” he sang low,
A flicker in the evening’s show.
The years were harsh, the price was steep,
But still he woke the world from sleep.

Now silence holds his resting frame,
Yet still we speak and praise his name.
He lives eternally in sound,
Where devil’s howl and saints are found.

So raise the horns, both loud and high,
Let Ozzy’s echoes fill the sky.
Though now his final song is done,
He joins the stars, forever one.

Hello Uilleam,
what moved me to write a tribute poem to Ozzy, I honestly don’t know. It just came over me, just like that, when I heard about his death. I like the song "Paranoid", and also "Dreamer", which represents an untypical style for him as a singer. But the extraordinary thrives on contrasts, doesn’t it?

I was never into all that, Rolph, but hey, if it upsets the establishment, bring it on!😈
