gods of man speak
they speak and I exist
they say
I am for man
I exist for man
I say
my master?
Who is my master ?
Man is a dog
Yes
Man is a dog
I say
I am your monster, man
I am disfigured for you
behold my crucifixion

Thank you for your comment, Leon.
I had a HS senior a couple of years ago whom I watched struggle intensely with a thesis on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The journey from first draft to final submission was arduous due to the work being such an overwhelmingly rich source of archetypal imagery for even a mature, native speaker of English.
In the end--however imperfect or incomplete others who weren't privy to our advisory sessions might have seen the end product of that student's struggle--the paper was made all the more beautiful to me because I had some witness to its creation and the pangs of synthesizing and packaging often disparate concepts which are inherently slippery and difficult to fathom, even when relieved of the context of the literary work itself, into a 4000-word piece of writing.
So, congratulations to my student, and I am grateful to have shared in their experience.
