Achingly true in its approach to this devastating illness, with a
choice of phrase that combines the poetical with the reality of a
heartbreaking situation that affects both sufferer and carer.
Coincidentally, today on the MSN online news page, there is an
item about Sir Michael Palin in which he describes the illness
affecting his friend and fellow Python partner Terry Jones.

To add to the fun...

The "Power That Be" thought women deserved fun
And whilst the angels considered it silly,
To please the ladies, every one,
He gave each man a willy. ?

CODA

When he saw the PTB set on this path,
Ignoring the angelic calls,
The devil decided he was game for a laugh
And promptly gave every man balls!

Ok , so I've read more of your poetry again today, some for the second or third time because I really wanted to absorb each meaning and metaphor and each expression and I have to say it's beautiful, raw, emotional and clever, oh I most definitely love it but most of all it's your style that really stands out to me, it's touching, it feels like it really comes from so deep in your heart.

Beautiful ?

As an ESL Speaker .. I used to write 12 line light poems .. easy for all to understand .. regarding NO ANSWER poem .. I still remember that I wrote it while asking simple common questions that I need to know .. but for unknown and unexpected answer .. my friend decided not to clearly and directly answer my questions .. do you know why?!..

Thank you for commenting on The Matriarch Fred. I live surrounded by a pine forest it has inspired me on a few occasions.
Beyond the Trees

Beyond the trees in a deep dark hole,
lives a fox and his friend the mole.
The mole did not know that his friend ate mole meat,
for he could see no further than his feet.

The mole brought the fox a gift of worms,
which managed to keep them on good terms.
Although the fox's glance would have told a different tale,
had Mr Mole been able to surveil.

A winter chill swept through their den,
the fox began to feel hungry again.
Now the mole certainly was no fool,
and realised he needed to keep his cool.

If he could find no more worms,
how would he keep them on good terms?
When he pushed his nose up through the ground,
this is what the little mole found.

He heard a noise right under a log,
and there he found a juicy frog.
Off he went with his gift,
he knew it would give his friend a lift.

The fox enjoyed his juicy frog,
which mole had found under a log.
He was so happy that in return,
he gave his friend the mole a juicy worm.

This tale is fraught with danger for the mole,
the situation is beyond his control.
There sits in the den an uneasy truce,
unless the fox's natural instincts are let loose.
So the mole never rests for more than ten,
while the fox lies slumbering in the den.

Thoughtful response MC. I might add that the treatment of Native Americans as non-humans lead the way to the debauches of slavery and segregation and all the subsequent history.
The USA belongs to the native Americans just as Australia does to the 'aborigines' or NZ to the Maoris.

It's easy to imagine these words being spoken by a tribal elder
(Medicine Man?) around a camp fire as the encroaching tide of
mass immigration (Manifest Destiny!) rose to engulf their way of
life. That past age was "another country" in its view of what was
seen as a "hindrance" to the changes that were considered to
be necessary in placing America with the foremost nations of the
world. The wholesale slaughter of bison was an approved govt.
policy under the operational guidance of General Phil Sheridan aimed at removing the source of sustenance and survival for the
tribes and ruthlessly designed to reduce them to starvation and
servitude. Its success is historical fact and whilst their previous
inter-tribal rivalries and conflicts didn't help any combined policy
of resistance, it is not frivolous to dwell on what might have
happened in US history in different circumstances - and how
world history might have been altered beyond our imaginings.

I'm reminded of my days at work in the past by these eminently
sensible words - but it's a sad fact that sometimes we are
dragged down into the dirt when the occasion arises. I have
been in that situation and know how frustrating it can be to offer
moderation into an unhearing ear feeding an unheeding mind.
Evening all!
