Thankyou Kevin, I'm glad you liked it.
These two, bless 'em, have different specialisms, I'm afraid he's on his own in the shed.
Doing a bit of editing, I seem to have added a whole other verse!

It rolled off the tongue nicely.
Left me wondering what their specialism is, and what goes off in that shed.
Cheers Kevin

Good joyful poem. I liked the "Simple now" following so closely the "Everything and nothing is." The accompanying photograph was a nice touch that really reinforces the feeling of the poem.

This is a really sad piece and it comes across so that the reader can feel the poet's extreme pain. If this is your current life, Damon, I hope you reach out for help.

Thanks all for your comments. I think this poem pretends to be in favour of a certain attitude but is not at all that. I hope that came across.
Suki, as soon as I read about Pam Ayres I agreed with the idea (not my own). Her stuff is gritty, witty and just rolls along, with no malice!
David, tongue in cheek you devil. I have no defence. Actually, a really bad poem, like Les Dawson's piano playing is rather difficult to do well.
Hear hear Mark. Well put and covers most of the evidence. The beauty is all in the interpretation.
Hannah, i'm very glad indeed that you liked this one, as I know your thinking is so sound.
Thanks also Kevin, David and Pat; it means a lot.
Love to all youse. Ray

One of the treasures of WOL is its platform for those who
can lift the spirits and make us smile/chuckle/laugh out loud, happily contrasting with the oh-so-serious, look at
me and my troubles stuff that appears, whilst possessing
the ability to make us see something else beyond the levity to ponder as we read.

It has the ability to lift awareness of life and how it might
be viewed and approached across its spectrum of existence. I was taken back to Thomas Hardy's "The
Darkling Thrush" - and that's always welcome!

Great imagery for such a short poem, and never be afraid to use more adjectives! Keep up the good work, and I'm sure you'll find parts of your own vocabulary that you didn't even know you possessed. Writing poetry takes time, patience, and the will to never settle for a second-rate piece, all things I'm sure you strive for. I like how each line frames the imagery for the next to take its place flawlessly like a scene changing in a movie.

Hugh, I so enjoyed the poem The Accrington Treat which was beautifully written in terms of loyalty to Our Sovereign and from a Lancastrian town, which during the Great War suffered enormous casualties in defence of the realm. God Bless Accrington and thank you. Keith

Thank you all. I see what you are saying Jemima and I like it too. But I think it would take away from it as well. If someone is not going against you, then there is nothing (or not very much) impressive about the fact that you are rooting for them. Don't you agree? Isurugi

lovely Isurugi but if you'll pardon me I think the first line would have kicked the haiku off much better had it read
'Try growing with me' and that would have nicely connected it to the word 'root' Thank you. Jemima.

Wow. Pretty dark stuff. But the emotions in here are so strongly written that I can feel the pain the narrator is in. Besides depression, I got the strong feeling of helplessness in here -- not only by the narrator, but also by anyone trying to help the narrator.
