Here's a little something to ease your pain John, from the good old days.

Have been there and had no helping hand to pull me out, have seen and felt all of the things described so accurately in this poem. I can completely resonate with this and can admit that a part of it still lingers on to me after my twenties too. And we'll all get past it to a better place, that's the beauty of life. A great first poem, well done!
Thank you.

A beautiful and poignant poem, John B. Interesting reference and vocabulary. Very wise and great at description too. Loved the last stanza that hits very hard on emotions.
Thank you.

A rather poignant poem in the end, John. My dad was good at laying crazy paving. There's no shame in not being Alan Titchmarsh; in fact......

Is there a poem in it, perhaps? 😏😂

Fame is fleeting, John. I once spoke to Lord Longford in the street outside the Houses of Parliament, but where did it get me, or him?
Fun poem.

stumbling, meandering, or striding along,
A bit of each for me now, John.

When I think on our little back garden on a 45 degree slope, how I built a set of steps from old flagstones and cobbles from nearby demolished houses, with no building skills at all. Still solid as a rock though!
-but ouch, my back!

I remember the very first time I went to the swimming baths with our school-either I was pushed in, or I slipped. I vividly remember swallowing or inhaling large amounts of water as I thrashed about before someone fished me out.

Hi Uilleam,

Thank you for your comment! A lot of the time, "the fabric of time" represents how gravity affects our perception of time...because of gravity and all sorts of other things, the more mass an object in space has, the more it affects our perception of time(don't quote me, I'm not a scientist)....this is why, the closer you get to a black hole, the more time is diolated...black holes are incredibly massive and "weigh" down the fabric of time.

How does this relate? Well, this poem is about someone who has such a massive impact on my life, that she literally is my universe...time is her dress, and her impact is so massive that it changes my perception of time.

Thanks again!
Jason

If and when you've got there John and finished with the guidebook of how you did so, could I have it please?

I mean just the thought of mixing with Ant and Dec, Graham Norton, Alan Titchmarsh, Claudia Winkleman, Ozzy Osbourne oh and Prince???? Harry would really make me....no.
...better not 😂

Touching in its simple realisation of how death is best coped
with - from both sides of the event. No frills...just plain honest
sentiment that is a nod to the good times that make life worth
living. Well said, JC. You've done her proud with this posting.

Heard an AI 'expert' the other day suggest becoming artists was the answer to what all these unemployed people can do because of AI.

'tis a great cause for joy
on arising from my bed,
a pleasure unalloyed
to hear it said
by a blackbird singing,
she's in love, she's in love,
while the bluebells are ringing,
dear heavens above,
oh boy she's in love!

Great contributions, Manish, Stephen, Uilleam, Clare and Keith. I have just loved your responses. 😀 Epic!

I woke up and the lines
We plunder the earth
For all it is worth
came into my head. I claim no credit!
I saw piles of Gail's shoes in the cupboard (sorry Gail! But I did) and a poem ensued. The track of conspicuous consumption followed. Familiar, I know but I liked the line
'Put it on the plastic'
as it linked easy credit with Keith's point about plastic waste. Thanks guys! 😎
Thanks for the likes K. Lynn and Kevin.
