Boots of Spanish Leather
From an almost comfortable battered saddle
I straddle a pale camargue mare
Balanced by boots of Spanish leather
In low water stretching to the sun
A flamingo dancer in feathery sunset pink
Cast her net for blushing shrimp
Salty sweated hide and sea kale scents
Subside as afternoon’s stored energies run out
Grey stillness descends
