How interesting about the expats. My grandson at Uni recently reminded me that a Penguin was a bird type creature (Pen) named after a Welshman called (Gwyn). Not many people knew that I'll bet - or if they did - had forgotten about it like me.

This is a hugely enjoyable reminder of so much of the best of us.
I don't think (as a southerner <Devon/West Country reared and latter day Londoner) that those "up north" truly realise the affection in
which they, their countryside and their lives are held by the rest of us.
Should we stand up and emulate those who admired Spartacus:?

grinning. not least at the deftly chosen emphasis on certain words
along the way. If there was a "Doctorate in Pertinent Pastiches"

We are all destined to die, that much is certain. But the poignant
difference between that eventual finality and this situation is the
bitter knowledge that it is due a lot sooner than hoped for, and
in circumstances that invite the added fear of "how" to the situation.
I recall a home visit from my GP about a passing illness, only to
discover later that he was suffering from cancer at the time and had
died a few months after his visit. That memory has stayed with me.

An entertaining and even-handed observation of those who enter
the legal professon. Their motives for doing so may be many. For
example, Geoffrey Robertson QC professed to being motivated,
when young, by the character of the lawyer Mr Jaggers in "Great Expectations". How they proceed to behave is another matter!
In all fairness, the law offers right of representation and that is why
adversarial aspects of courtroom encounters can result in certain
controversial outcomes, and heated opinions about "justice".
I have to admit an interest, having been involved with legal matters
during my public service career over three decades. One thing I
recall with some affection is the wit that can often be obtained in
exchanges with lawyers, in and out of the courtroom.

It isn't clever or funny to swear at the TV, I know. And with that in mind we have instigated this month in our household a £1 swear box for each time I transgress. The above is a list of the times that I have. I call this a found prose-poem. I hang my head in shame. There may be more to add to the list before the end of the month ...

Thanks for the support, Brian. There was one minor change... see if you can spot it! And I also had a senior moment as I couldn't remember posting it last time! read it in Levenshulme in Manchester last night and it seemed to go down well, but might hesitate before reading it south of Birmingham!

I'm just a learner builder
In rollercoaster trade
I know the wheels work best when round
And not when square-like made

(My first effort with square wheels did not move,
I still can't work out why?......)

I know it has to have a wheel
To steer it round the bends
What's that? Am I real sure of this?

To check out what I made
