Fortunately for many, John, we do not. I appreciate you taking the time to read my work.
Poems are likened to mirrors for some; windows for others. What do you think?

On reflection, I ought to replace "Banana Republics" with "so - called civilised Countries", bearing in mind the civil rights struggles in the UK, USA, the European continent and the rest of the world!

Yes, the insistent power of water is immense.

Thank you for this reflection, @Uilleam Ó Ceallaigh. It’s true! Especially when it comes to humanitarian issues, we often overlook the fact that the word humanity begins with human.
We’re all human, but somehow… not every human feels that humanity stands for them.
Perhaps the hardest truth is… some no longer recognize the word humanity in their vocabulary.

There was a time when such stories might have concerned only dictatorships in "Banana Republics".
Now in the UK 2025, an 83 year old priest is arrested for protesting against genocide! I await the Plod's knock on the door for this poem-I kid you not!

"peace is more than photo shows,
Or handshakes staged in choreographed rows."
Well put, Rolph.
It really wouldn't surprise me in the least were Trump to be awarded it; perversion of the truth and Alice in Wonderland lunacy is now the norm worldwide...

The fragility and beauty of the poppy (such as those I see in the middle of the busy roadside reservation) is such a contrast to the unforgiving ugliness of the world of concrete.
A beauty so easy to destroy, and so difficult to replace.💐

Not an easy read but a rivetting one JD. It has horror and a grotesque charm. Anyone familiar with the Jack the Ripper cult will recognize all the hallmarks of a furtive and indeed futile waste of lives. So I say thanks for bringing this out. I wonder if "sweet FA" has a connection with this tale. If so it backs up your final claim.

I so seldom comment on others' poems sadly for lack of energy and time, but here is a full bodied and inspired piece of a sort of transparent ethereal reality that I find commendable! A quite noble conception and the language to support it.

HI Stephen. Yes there is a reflective quality I tried to show, basically I just liked the tyres on gravel idea and worked the poem around it. It was more of a meander than a message!
Thanks for your thoughts. I do often nod off to endless unfathomable crime plots.

A timely warning, I think, Rolph. As you say, it would be a scandal if he was even considered for the prize. Ultimately, climate change denial and all that flows from it may be the worst of his legacy.

Graham, I appreciate your ever sincere words and it was.
Difficult to share as well, but I feel a responsibility to express dark and twisty creativity as well. Not sure why, but it feels important. Something having to do with Carl Jung’s collective unconsciousness perhaps.
Thank you again, hope all is well.
