The dictionary meaning of perversion runs as follows
www.thefreedictionary.com/perversion
(It is you yourself who coined the word with the practice mentioned. It is that way I found it in many books.Hence you have no ground to complain about my choice of word.Poetry is nothing but placing the best word at the best place.)

//perversion
pəˈvəːʃ(ə)n/
noun
noun: perversion; plural noun: perversions

1.
distortion or corruption of the original course, meaning, or state of something.
"the thing which most disturbed him was the perversion of language and truth"
synonyms: distortion, misrepresentation, falsification, travesty, misinterpretation, misconstruction, twisting, corruption, subversion, misuse, misapplication, debasement
"a twisted perversion of the truth"
2.
sexual behaviour that is considered abnormal and unacceptable.
"his book revolutionized ideas about sexual perversion"
synonyms: deviance, deviancy, deviation; More//

Of course English is not my mother tongue. But I have read so many classic novels specially translation of Raduga /Progress publisher.I have read and translated classic English poems in Amharic

When I said" I second Mugabe and Museveni " I was simply referring to their stance on homosexuality. Here there is no need to politicize things.Regarding the black English man may be Museveni was mocking you!Don't underestimate him he is a witty politician.Try to get his interview on Hard Talk,BBC

Also will you not be surprised if somebody tells you something strange?
"There were white slaves in Ethiopia after the battle of Adwa."Do you believe that?

I want other poets to give comment on these issues.

lovely piece of writing martin. this idea of nature smothering what man has made is well used and the piece is so wonderfully descriptive I felt the tides splashing my face as I read it.

As the Paris climate conference draws near to conclusion and we all hope something useful will come out of it, here's yet another poem from my pamphlet.
Don't forget you can order the pamphlet from Amazon or Kindle http://www.amazon.co.uk/Speak-Unspeakable-words-overheating-world-ebook/dp/B017QBUL7M/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1449743163&sr=1-1&keywords=speak+the+unspeakable
or from my website www.birdbard.co.uk
It's very inexpensive and I've had some highly encouraging comments so far.

Brilliant article Isobel :D Aww though, I do still miss the old place. I quite liked all that peripheral noise, and the startled, bemused, or amused looks on the faces of regular pub punters as they passed through the bear pit haha. Anyhoo, will be there with bells on toneet! See thee!! :D

some great lines, references and play on words here David - I particularly liked - beggars banquets - the cock steady action - the axeman - bass players that were vicious.

snow white tans makes me think of Nights in White Satin.

There's a wonderful mix of musical influences and genres all whisked up to show how great music was before it became over produced and over hyped from the 80's on.

as David's first comment - but it reminded me of St Govan's Chapel in Pembrokeshire which can be reached down steps in the cliff just off the coastal path - nestled between the sea and land now occupied by a military firing range. Cheers David . I went with the three word format as its a discipline . When you are underground there is a sort of distress to look back so I felt that pressure there. Thanks for liking it.

Cynthia, thanks for comments. Regrettably, the format on the blog is different from the typed version which has centred text throughout and has that line I clawed them as one phrase... I'll have to check that in future!!
Well spotted. Ray

Very much enjoyed. And an interesting format. Any reason why 'them' is not attached to its phrase? It then becomes a major line isolated in that way, but not, IMO, a major thought when separated from 'I clawed them'. A respectful question only.

hello harry! always great to see such an in depth comment. the poem is actually about the reaction of a family to a womans death. inter vivos is a legal term denoting a gift made during ones lifetime. the whole poem is about the woman never seeing her family until the end when they swept (like fair weather or carrions) upon her to strip her of her commodities (the crimson jewellery). the suicide luncheon refers to the meeting of the family in her abode after she died. on the shape, i must admit to a folly here. i did originally have it sloping then dropping off, but when centred it looked appealingly like a lamp and so i left it! how very un-poetic i know! im glad you enjoyed the poem and it is great to get such in depth feedback, it tells me where i went wrong and what i did right which i love!

I couldn`t possibly ignore this one.

The `she` in line four and the `her` in line seven indicate that the poem is `about` a woman`s horrific vision of events in her`abandoned house`. with a `spin` of carrion and gore above. The sinisterism and force of the bizzarre happenings in the house is let down a little by that `swept clean by fair weather` in line five, Which is a shame because lines six and seven have an ominously enstranging and bewildering feel to them. The alliteration of lines eight and nine (I think) draw a bit too much smoothing attention to themselves (for a `frightener type` poem like this).

The `thinning` from line ten is absolutely right and `dissolve` and `Ghost`both fit, but I felt that some word more shiveringly apprehensive of an aftermath might would have lent even more force to the three nexts at
the end.

Given the print mangling apps that they talk about `Shaped` poetry may be the coming thing. In this case the centreing may be too neat (for the theme?) It might have been better `sloped out` to line nine and the final
thinned six lines `toppled` from the edge...

I particularly liked lines three and seven.

If this sounds like too deep a going into, Stu, just put it down to old age.

I grew up in a dirty old seaport on the south coast, a great breeding ground for seafarers and fishermen. There were potteries, timber yards and iron foundries-a great sense of community and would treat strangers as friends. Now it is a ponced up 'holiday resort'-full of money moved in from all over and the locals priced out. All the industry went and was replaced by office blocks. No community left, no friendly faces, just people looking stressed as they chase the next shilling. I am told that I should move with the times. Which I do-but not with their times!
This resonated with me oldlancsman-well said. Ledger

Hahaha, I do find a lot of my pieces do that, and it frustrates me. I find that by the end, it either twists in a way which feels a little awkward, or it begins to contradict itself. This is because I use writing as an outlet, and usually by the time I near the end of a poem, I gain a clear mind and my thoughts change a little. I apologize for any changes that are difficult to follow, I think it's just my writing style, and it bothers me as well haha

I am happy that you accept the right of consenting adults to love one another as they please, but your use of the word "perversion" is offensive to homosexuals as this is an abusive word. A poet should the care of the words he chooses. The incidents you mention - child molestation and rape - are crimes in my country as much as in yours and are not tolerated by myself nor the people of any "liberalised" country.
